Every employee in the Netherlands has the right to a safe workplace and every organisation is obliged to ensure this. Appointing an independent confidential advisor (VP) is part of this.

I am Marjan Enzlin, journalist, former psychiatric nurse and former president of the Dutch Association of Journalists (NVJ). Confidential Advisor on Undesirable Behaviour for NVJ employees since 2022 and now also for RFG Media employees and participants.

Hopefully no one will need me, but if they do, I am there for anyone who encounters awkward or unsafe practices in work or cooperation and wants to vent or talk about them in confidence. Who wants information about possibilities or help in thinking about what steps to take (or not). The VP always stands next to the reporter, but does not solve the problem himself. The person who contacts the VP remains in charge. The VP catches, hears, informs, helps report if necessary and can mediate or refer.

In principle, everything discussed between us remains confidential, unless there is such serious wrongdoing that its concealment is puts the VP in conscience and/or puts others in danger. In that case, the VP, always after consulting the reporter, proceeds to make a report in the most appropriate place. This can also be done without revealing the reporter's details.
