RFG Media is an organisation with and for refugee journalists. In recent years, our community has grown to over 200 members, who together form a super-diverse network of media makers. We believe in the power of this network and its added value for the Dutch media, and for our journalists.
We offer our members various activities and networking opportunities, and work to expand activities for and by the RFG Community. We are a learning organisation, and respond to the wishes and needs of our members as much as possible. Do you have a good idea for (additional) programme? Then contact community coordinator Stella Nelissen.
Editorial visits
Building a network in the Dutch media sector is incredibly important for refugee journalists. That is why we organise visits to Dutch editors at least twice a year. It always leads to interesting conversations with (chief) editors about image formation, the differences with media abroad and the contribution journalists with a refugee background can make to Dutch journalists. Assignments or useful contacts regularly emerge from the editorial visits.
Networking meetings
RFG is more than a media organisation. We also form a community of refugee journalists, mentors and other volunteers. To strengthen that community, we organise regular networking meetings. These are occasions to get to know each other better, but also moments when other journalists and social and media organisations can get to know our network.
